The Seymours are your average happy family living in suburban bliss. They could be your neighbors, your fellow church members, or your work and school mates. Just like your family, they rely on the Internet for all kinds of tasks. Each one has different needs, but each require free access to the Net.
Nothing pleases John like a frosty drink in his favorite chair in front of the TV. John loves movies. He especially wouldn't know what to do without his Netflix. ISP's have made attempts to block Netflix in favor of their own streaming services which usually have less than half the content. John also loves sports. When John heard Comcast may not carry ESPN anymore because of poor negotiations he was relieved to know he could still watch all the games online - that is unless Comcast gets the power to negotiate ESPN's access to the Internet too. |

Don't let the sleek little house dress fool you. Martha is a practicing medical doctor. She uses the Internet to read journals and reach out to colleagues on specialty forums. Small sites and message boards like the ones Martha visits may not have the funds to pay for access to each version of the Internet if ISP's are allowed to fragment it, cutting off groups of researchers and making collaboration more difficult. |

Betty loves to talk. When she's not chatting with her friends on the phone she's using Skype to video conference with her grandparents halfway across the country. Even though Betty's phone has a front facing camera, Grandma and Grandpa don't have AT&T, and AT&T won't allow a cross platform app like Skype to run on their mobile network because it competes with their own products. So Betty can't see them on her phone even though they both connect to the same Internet. |
